Harman Professional selects InishTech for the HiQnet Performance Manager™ audio system.

Harman Professional, the world’s leading provider of professional audio systems, today announced the selection of the InishTech cloud licensing service as the platform that will underpin the packaging, licensing, protection and distribution of the new HiQnet Performance Manager™ application.

Performance Manager is a cutting edge software application built on the HiQnet protocol that enables system engineers to rapidly configure, optimize and manage high end networked audio systems. “Performance Manager is used for the biggest and best sound setups in the world” explained Graham Hammell, Director of System Development and Integration Group at Harman Professional, “so think large scale live events like Rock in Rio or major performance venues like Wembley. In the hands of an experienced sound engineer, Performance Manager can bring the entire audio system online, fully configured and optimized in a fraction of the time it previously would have taken with existing software. In the entertainment industry, time is money, so we are really excited about how Performance Manager is going to drive cost savings and improve the end product for our clients.”

Understandably, there were real concerns in Harman around how to protect the valuable IP embodied in this application. “This product is packed full of innovations” explains Hammell, “and we expect people will grow to rely on it as an integral piece of kit. It also happens to address a market that includes some of our most valued clients. So for us, it was vitally important to manage licensing and distribution without impacting on the provisioning or performance of the application. With InishTech, we can activate a new customer and have them up and running in moments, even in unconnected environments where there is no internet connectivity.”

“The other big concern we had was casual misuse, or license sharing. We needed a way to protect against that but also to ensure that we could address the root cause, and so we have implemented options for both single and multi-user licenses. Going forward, we also expect to leverage the InishTech platform to package up different editions of the Performance Manager application for the market to offer our clients even more choice and flexibility.”

Hammell explains the thinking behind selecting InishTech. “We wanted a solution that was proven in the marketplace and that we could fold into our release schedule with minimum interruption. The integration of the InishTech service was really straightforward and it was backed up by a really responsive support team which meant a pain-free experience. InishTech have an industry leading solution and are easy to do business with – for Harman, that’s a winning combination.”

Aidan Gallagher, InishTech CEO commented, “Winning a customer like Harman Professional, the world leader in audio systems, is hugely important for InishTech. It demonstrates the unique value that our cloud licensing service can bring to the most demanding, most sophisticated software applications. It’s also a testament to how software is becoming an increasingly important business enabler across all technology-centric industries.”
